For a drawing exercise, I want to describe the outline of a head before working on the smaller facial features. The difficulty is that a strong jaw can attract attention even when the rest of the outline looks quite rounded. I have been looking for a reference on square face shape to help frame the discussion. I would prefer a few observable features in my notes before deciding whether a familiar category name is useful. Could I begin with separate marks for the forehead, cheekbones and jaw, and compare those widths before drawing the contour? A few of the pictures have hair across the forehead, and I would rather leave those sections uncertain than guess. My plan is to give everyone the same outline worksheet and compare observations before starting the more detailed sketches. I want the categories to support careful looking, while leaving room for outlines that combine several different visible features. Which observations would you put on the worksheet to keep the discussion practical and grounded in the actual reference picture?
